Latest update: 1st June 2020

After the announcement from the Prime Minister on Sunday 10th May and the guidelines released by the government, along with the advice from Cumbria Tourism, Broadrayne Farm Cottages and Grasmere Glamping will remain in government enforced lock down until June 1st. We have now made the decision to extend this closure until Friday 12th June.

We have now contacted everybody who had an existing booking with us between March 22nd and June 12th and you should have received an email from us by now. If you haven’t then please do get in touch, via email, and we will look into this for you.

If your holiday falls after this date, we’re asking all our guests to continue as normal with their holiday booking and we will re-asses, if needed, at a later date.

As always we thank you in advance for your support and we cannot wait to welcome you all back to Broadrayne Farm.

Take care,

Dave, Sally, Jess & Will

Previous update: 11th May 2020

As we all know, these are completely unprecedented times and there is no instruction manual on how to proceed. The lock down, none essential travel and social distancing instructions have been very clear since March 22nd, but we now find ourselves heading towards a period of uncertainty as to how the lockdown will be lifted. We are also members of Cumbria Tourism, which represents the local hospitality industry and we are regularly turning to them for advice on various subjects including how to deal with our future bookings.

Previous update: 7th May 2020

It was with huge sadness that we announced the closure of Broadrayne Farm on March 22nd due to COVID-19 and the government lockdown.

Current government advice is for us to remain closed until at least May 7th, today. However we are now awaiting the announcement on the evening of May 10th when they will reassess the situation.

Although this is obviously heart-breaking for us as a family and all of our staff, our first priority is the safety of the general public and therefore we believe this is the most responsible thing to do for you, us, Cumbria and the UK as a whole. The situation is changing rapidly, and we are trying our very best to keep up.

We do have full loss of business insurance cover, which includes human contagious diseases, as we believe in being prepared for every eventuality. Unfortunately, our insurance company are now saying they will not cover Covid-19 for hospitality businesses. However, we have been informed that personal travel insurance companies will now be covering the cost of holidays, that have to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 outbreak.

In order to try to protect our business for the future please, in the first instance, could we ask that you contact your insurance company to claim for the cost of your holiday. If you would like us to write a letter and provide a receipt for the monies paid, then please email and we will happily help by providing the necessary documentation.

We have now contacted everybody who had an existing booking with us between the 22nd March and the 14th May and you should have received an email from us by now. If you haven’t then please do get in touch, via email, and we will look into this for you.

Finally, we want to thank everybody for their overwhelming support which has made some really tough moments over the last few weeks that bit easier to cope with. This is a family business that we have spent years building and as our guests, we have always seen you as an extension of that - this past week has proven that more than ever and has given us the determination to come out the other side of this stronger than ever.

To ensure that this can happen, we need as much of your support as possible. We have consequently decided to open up bookings for 2021 for all our properties on the farm - The Yan, Grasmere Glamping, and our Broadrayne Farm cottages - and would be so grateful for you to book to come and see us next year. If you aren’t sure on your current movements, we do also have online gift vouchers which are available to buy via our website (Click Here). We’d love to look forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones too, on the other side of this so please do spread the word to all your friends and family!

If you do need to contact us then please do this via email at the moment, as we are still finding it very emotional and difficult to communicate via telephone.

See you all very soon,

Dave, Sally, Jess and Will
